Editorial Review:
Album Description: Two CD set studio masterpiece from the legendary electro ambient pioneers, Tangerine Dream is a German electronic music group founded in 1967 by Edgar Froese. Still led by found Edgar Froese, Booster harkens back to the early soundof the classic albums Phaedra and Rubycon with touches of the group’s Grammy nominated masterpiece, Canyon Dreams! The band has undergone several personnel changes over the years, with Froese the only continuous member. Drummer and composer Klaus Schulze was a member of an early lineup, but the most stable version of the group during their influential mid-1970s period was as a keyboard trio with Froese, Christopher Franke, and Peter Baumann. •
Customer Reviews Average Rating: Rating: - At last: Tangerine Dream is back! This album is truly inspiring and captures the best of Tangerine Dream. Since the early eighties, the sound and style of Tangerine Dream experienced a major transformation and not a positive one for me. With Booster, I can enjoy the best from the old and new Tangerine Dream in an innovative album. As an amateur astronomer, I always bring inspiring space music when observing in the field. This album is a must in every trip.
Rating: - A must have for die hard TD fans When it comes to the music of Tangerine Dream, you either "get it" or you don't. The band has always written music in their contemporary. There always seems to be an essence in the music that distills out and becomes instantly recognizable as TD. This album offers the latest essence of Tangerine Dream and takes you as far down the rabbit hole as you want to go...
Rating: - Booster I've been a fan of TD since thier early days (Zeit, Rubycon) and this is the first time I have seen TD go back to thier early style as well as have some of the newer style of music. I still prefer their long pieces like Tangram and Pheadra, but this is a good mix of their music and its all new.
Rating: - An Excellent Edgar Froese CD ! Virtually every song of this very good and diverse genre TD 2 CD set was performed by Edgar Froese. He's essentially the only remaining member of Tangerine Dream for the past two years. Edgar's the patriarch of electronic music. On "Booster" he uses his boundless keyboard, synth and guitar musical skills to deliver several masterful soundscapes. He has the muli-talented virtuosity and autonomy to lead Tangerine Dream all by himself. He has mastered every niche of their sound.
Rating: - Not the same old tunes No matter how many times TD records a song, it's always different. The electronic improvements make these whole new sounds. I have just about everything they recorded, and I think this one is quite good.
