Customer Reviews Average Rating: Rating: - decent standalone but PS3 much better I decided to get this unit while my PS3 was being serviced due to a Dead Blu drive. I like the styling of the unit it looks sleek in my entertainment center. compared to my 80 GB PS3 its much quieter. regular DVD playback is a joke compared to my OPPO DV 980H. same for MP3 and CD playback, dont buy this unit for anything more than a blu player. the remote is horrid. thank god for my universal remote. video quality is really good unless your like me and have a PS3 to compare it to. the PS3 beats this ... Rating: - Samsung BD-P1500 This was an upgrade from the original BD-P1000. One of the best things, of course, was the $400 price compared to $1000 for the P1000 (the price of being on the leading edge). The P1500 responds much faster than the P1000. I can't tell much difference in the picture quality (Very good by the way). The P1500 is still grainy when the picture has a lot of black in it. The P1500 firmware can be updated directly from the web, but downloading a file onto a CD wasn't that big of a deal. All in all, ... Read More
Rating: - Just Short of Greatness I've owned this unit for about a month now and feel like I'm fairly conversant with how the player works.First of all, the picture quality and sound quality are great. It's unlike anything I've ever seen.I've had some upconverting DVD players, and the difference is there and highly noticeable. Some negatives: resuming a movie from the middle is pretty much impossible for whatever reason.I press stop, power off the player while it's in resume, turn it back on and it isn't where it was.Instead, it's ... Rating: - Great Entrance to Blu Ray! I bought this during a sale as my first Blu Ray player and I'm glad I did. Blu Ray is definitely worth it. Watching The Hunt for Red October I see details with the clarity that I didn't on regular DVD. The sound is also much better than DVD quality.
The setup on this player is extremely simple with just connecting it to the TV via an HDMI cable, as is adding features via firmware updates from the Samsung web site. Initially I had problems with disc playback but I burned the firmware update to a ... Read More
Rating: - I like it! The only thing that I miss is that the eject and control switches do not have the background blue light. Otherwise, the picture and sound are wonderful! Everyone talks about the picture, but I now hear things that were not apparent before. I have it hooked to the 61" Samsung LED rear projection set and all is good. It even has this neat feature that if I have the TV set to the dish, and I put a DVD in, it switches the TV by itself! Also I'd like to say something about Amazon.com, these people are great. The first ... Read More
