I love most of Philips' electronics products.I've got a Philips TV, DVD Players, a DVD Recorder (hard drive model), and Norelco razors and I love them all.On the other hand, this particular Philips product, the DCP951/37 player, has stunned me with dismay.I bought it on sale for $49.95 at BigLots a few weeks ago and still took it back.It wasn't marked refurb.It had all the indications of being new so I presume it was, in fact, new.

Rating:  - flimsy and poorly constructed
phillips sent us this product as a replacement for the older model (which broke after just seven months) and i was immediately disappointed. the leg stand is VERY flimsy and does not allow you to angle the screen, the new design means the screen is always exposed and overall it felt like a cheap knockoff. now it's been five months and the screen is now grainy. this is a terrible product. now i have to call their customer service AGAIN and hopefully get my money back this time.do not waste your money.

Great product for the price. Very large screen and super-loud speakers for watching your DVD's. I've only used it twice on road trips with the family and it worked just fine. The remote is also very easy to use, and works well from a considerable diatance away. The only thing is that the unit does get very hot after about 45 - 60 minutes of use so I usually mount it near a window or vent inside the car to keep the air flow over the back of it. Works well with my video I-Pod and is a handy small size with a larger screen than many portable DVD players.The stand and DVD door are a little flimsy but as long as you treat it with the appropriate respect that any electronic item should be treated it is not a problem.Might not be good for younger children who might be a little too rough on it for the DVD door.The sound is good for a portable device and the picture quality is excellent.All in all it is a good player for the cost and is very handy ...
