I am replacing an Epson printer/scanner, and the Canon MP610 beats it hands down. My primary reason for getting rid of the Epson was the cost of the ink - I was spending WAYYYY too much money on ink cartridges that only lasted a short while.The MP610 has better print quality and is much more thrifty because of lower ink costs.Scanning quality is excellent, but I had no complaints about this on the Epson. The best feature of the MP610 is two sided printing - saves paper.

This is the first printer that I have purchased in years and I have been pleased with it's performance thus far.I was concerned about the cost of ink cartridges and liked the idea that it has five individual cartridges that can be changed independently of one another. So far I have not used it enough to use measurable amounts of ink so it will be a while before I can judge it's ink economy.

I usually just go buy a printer for a few bucks and throw the old one away.It's been cheaper to do that than purchase new ink.But with this printer, I am not throwing it away.It's the best printer I have ever had.
