Product Description:
Wouldn't you love to abolish the IRS ... Keep all the money in your paycheck ... Pay taxes on what you spend, not what you earn ... And eliminate all the fraud, hassle, and waste of our current system?
Then the FairTax is for you. In the face of the outlandish American tax burden, talk-radio firebrand Neal Boortz and Congressman John Linder are leading the charge to phase out our current, unfair system and enact the FairTax Plan, replacing the federal income tax and withholding system with a simple 23 percent retail sales tax on new goods and services. This dramatic revision of the current system, which would eliminate the reviled IRS, has already caught fire in the American heartland, with more than six hundred thousand taxpayers signing on in support of the plan.
As Boortz and Linder reveal in this first book on the FairTax, this radical but eminently sensible plan would end the annual national nightmare of filing income tax returns, while at the same time enlarging the federal tax base by collecting sales tax from every retail consumer in the country. The FairTax, they argue, would transform the fearsome bureaucracy of the IRS into a more transparent, accountable, and equitable tax collection system. Among other benefits, it will:
- Make America's tax code truly voluntary, without reducing revenue
- Replace today's indecipherable tax code with one simple sales tax
- Protect lower-income Americans by covering the tax on basic necessities
- Eliminate billions of dollars in embedded taxes we don't even know we're paying
- Bring offshore corporate dollars back into the U.S. economy
Endorsed by scores of leading economists and supported by a huge and growing grassroots movement, the FairTax Plan could revolutionize the way America pays for itself. In this straight-talking book, Neal Boortz and John Linder show you how it would work—and how you can help make it happen.
Customer Reviews Average Rating: Rating: - Must read This is a must read for any one interested in the economy of the United States and the welfare of its citizens. A complete explanation of the Fairtax tax plan to revitalize the tax system of the United States.
Rating: - Great Idea for a great country. It is sad to see all the negative reviews for this book. The history and explanation he goes into on taxes and how we are fooled as a country by our politicians is awesome. This book is full of good ideas, that if we all had the courage as a country to follow through on would make us a powerful country.
I would strongly recommend this book to all those with open minds.
Rating: - Must Read If you have not read this book, or are not aware of the FairTax, this is a must purchase. Mr Boortz, & Mr Linder take something as inane, and droll as our tax system, and offer a solution to fix it. This is it folks, the new revolution for our country. Do what I did, read the book, and become an advocate. Sick and tired of being hosed by the government? Angry at all the bailouts and stimulus packages that do nothing? Read this, and spread the word. The answer to most of our personal and nation's ... Read More
Rating: - Fooling Some of the People The main problem with this book is the authors never tell that they have no dollar figures to back up their claim! A 30% National Sales Tax will not bring in the money needed to run the American Security State as it now exists.
The problems in modern Europe are mainly due to their high national sales tax (VAT) of just 18% to 20%. It is taxing people to death (the falling birth rate and other problems of malaise). Economics Professor Batra said so in one of his books. (Yes, there is controversy ... Read More
Rating: - I laughed so hard there were tears rolling down my face I have never enjoyed a book about taxes so much. It's a great plan.I truly believe that the Fairtax is an absolute must as part of the answer to this economic crisis. They also have to cut government spending and restore our creditability as a nation of people who pay their bills and honor their contracts. The logic is sound and very easy to understand. It is written with the general public in mind and they try very hard not to overwhelm you with complex mathematical and economic principles that most ...
