Wen I first saw this, I was in doubt. But I really wanted to make a machinima, so I bought nit. When it came, I didnt get how to completely install it at first, but once it was, it worked great! The only trouble is that their may or may not be linez in the video, but barely noticable when the camera is standing still. So, if its ur first capture card, hen its ok. But if u want to improve, go with the dazzle capture card.!

Installation was a bit of a hastle. I would like to think I'm pretty good with computers but I came across some problems when installing the drivers on my Windows XP. I called StarTech tech support and the kind and articulate Keith emailed me the link to the correct driver when I told him that the screen (in the program) would turn black when I pressed the record button on the screen. I had a slow start in the process because I don't know anything about the different types of recording systems. Gradually, with the help of my kids, I've learned to use this for exactly what I wanted it for - convert VHS movies to DVD's. First off, I'm marginally tech challenged. After 25 years in the computer industry, I ran away from home for 10 years before finally giving in. I wanted a way to capture old video tapes to PC and this product fit the bill. For the price I would recommend it to anyone with the same need. I give it 4 stars because, as others have said, the "manual" is less than good. I was able to install the driver and software on my WinXP SP3 PC with no problems. When I tried to run the GrabBee software I got one of those "Send Error Report" windows. I downloaded and installed the latest version of the driver and software but still the "Send Error Report" window came up. I worked with StarTech tech support for several days but ultimately I had to return the item.
