Customer Reviews Average Rating: Rating: - Nice pan I bought the pan because of the ceramic non-stick surface - I've never had one and wanted to try it after seeing good reviews. I'm very happy with it and would purchase again. It isn't quite as "slick" as a teflon pan, but you can use metal utensils (I use care with them) although it's probably better to avoid them if you can. The pan also seems to brown better than a traditional teflon pan, which is a nice plus I hadn't expected. Steve
Rating: - Overrated and Not So Non-stick Pan We got a large sauce pan, 1 small and 1 medium size fry pans.
I was very excited the first time we got our Scanpans. I read about the new technology surrounding this product that supposedly to be non-stick for many years. Now, we only have the big sauce pan left. We have to throw away the 2 fry pans.
To give it some credit, they lasted a couple of years before it started to peel off (actually not peeling off like a teflon. It starts to have some tiny holes on the surface ... Read More
Rating: - Excellent Well made, durable, looks good... What more do you need from a frying pan? (Actually, a lid would have been nice.)
I disagree with the 1 star review trying to fuel the PTFE scare. You MIGHT need to worry if you're MAKING the pans at a factory, but the finished product is NOT carcinogenic. I'm a scientist and I read the real literature about this - my opinion is that there is no cause to worry about the nonstick coating.
Rating: - Liked the pan/customer service was awful After reading all of the good reviews I decided to get this pan.If I really liked it I was also going to purchase the chef's set of other pans. When it arrived I was so excited.I had been using a cheap omelet pan that all of the teflon had worn off and I was ready to invest in some good pans. Two things I found out.If you put veggies in your omelet and they touch the pan it will stick, but it cleaned up easily.I had to put a teaspoon of butter in.Second the rivets stick out and food collects ... Rating: - ScanPan Pans Made from PTFE The ScanPan pots are made from PTFE.So they can't call it "green" when PTFE is known to be a carcinogen.Stay away from ScanPan unless you want to cook your food on a carcinogenic surface.Don't buy any pots or pans that have PTFE, Teflon, or any such substance. Those synthetic chemicals cause cancer of the liver and kidneys in rodents. And the fumes of the PTFE at frying temperatures kill birds.
