I have one word to describe these poultry shears.Greatness! Ok, I have more than one word for these shears, so here goes.I like the stainless steel spring that flexes the blades back open after each cut.I like the no slip handle with the enclosed finger guard.This is nice when cutting slick chicken.Now to the most important part--the blades.I telling you these son-of-guns are sharp!The bottom blade has grooves on the side that hold smaller bones in place while you are cutting them. ... As with all Oxo products, this one didn't disappoint. Excellent steel quality is SHARP! I also like the fact that the blades come apart and is dishwasher safe for easy cleaning, especially since this will be used on poultry. Highly recommended.

I had hoped that these would be the answer for me in cutting up a couple of chickens a week, bones and all, for feeding pets. They're not quite. The grips have to open widely enough that I can barely keep my grip, and I have medium sized hands. The upper non-circular grip is shaped such that it allows, no, forces my hand to slide forward into an awkward position which has less leverage for cutting through bones.
