We purchased this hand-held to pick up dog fur and also to get dust off of our dogs fur. The suction is definitely not up to par. I'd compare the suction to one of those inexpensive,unknown name brand vac's you buy at K-mart or some other retailer for 19.95 or less. For a small hand held it is extremely loud and does heat up quickly. This machine is overpriced and I expected much better from Black & Decker. We are very pleased with this vacuum.It has great suction and picks up hair and crumbs very well.It also comes with a long cord so you can plug it in and reach a long area.I recommend this hand vacuum.

Great suction! Easy to use, long cord, and big enough space to use repeatedly without having to dispose the filter too often for someone who hates doing really disgusting things like that. In fact, I've had it for over a month and still have not emptied out the vacuum. I like the vacuum cleaner-it was a good deal.

I have owned two cordless Black & Decker vacuums... I have never been very happy with them so I decided on the corded model to clean up around the litter box. HA! The clever little rotating brush attachement froze up almost at once.Any small piece of dirt/litter jams it and it's useless.
