Editorial Review:
Product Description: Barista grade control for a variety of coffee grinds. The removable bean hopper holds 1/2 a pound of coffee beans. The motor drives the bottom burrs and the top plate is stationary. The distance you position them apart precisely determines grind size. The easy-to-read settings allow for grind choices from ultra-fine for Turkish coffee to large and coarse for percolators.
Customer Reviews Average Rating: Rating: - Excellent coffee grinder I've discovered that the grind of a coffee is as important as the quality of the coffee beans and getting a great cup of java, equivalent to the Starbucks of the world, starts with a good qualify bean and a good grind that's consistent. The Breville does almost as good as the commercial grade grinders that you find in most retail stores, except that you don't get the inadvertent taste of someone else's grind. It's easy to use and is quieter than most standard inexpensive grinders and it looks good ... Rating: - The Best Grinder I've Owned! This is my third grinder, second burr grinder and I can't imagine a better grinder.Works great, not too loud, not much static build-up.Very consistent grind.I've owned for about 4 months without any problem.Highly recommended!
Rating: - Poor design, poorly executed. Lasted less than a month.
I haven't sent it in for service because I don't think I want it back.
>It won't handle oily beans-- they just clog up the chute. >Doesn't produce enough per cycle for a large American style brewer--you have to do it in batches. >The small, oddly shapped ground receptical is hard to empty and has to be inserted *just* so or the grinder won't work.
Why is a good grinder so hard to find?
Rating: - Great Grinder (especially for a new user such as myself) In the interests of disclosure let me first say that I've never owned a grinder before so I can't compare this grinder to others on the market. However, as a first time buyer I was looking for a couple of things such as: easy to put together, ease of use, and of course, great tasting coffee. I am happy to say that this grinder satisfies all of the above. There is basically no assembly required which is great for someone like me who is a bit of a moron when it comes to putting appliances together. I had ... Read More
Rating: - Breville BCG450XL Conical Burr Grinder This is my first c/b grinder and was skeptical if it was really necessary. I chose it based on web reviews, not personal feedback. Primarily it is used for drip (8cup) and espresso. Without additional exp. w/ other c/b grinders, i find this product is very acceptable for the amateur barista. Easy to assemble, beans have not jammed, consistent grind, less noisy than my old blade type, minor static cling and, most importantly, coffee tastes much better. I'll never go back to blade style.
