I have an older Mac G5 and had to replace the existing video card. The 9600 works well - Easy to install, less noise (my last card had a fan), and this card also has 2 DVI outputs which is a bonus.

This is a pretty awesome card. While AGP is sort of a dying card type, this card certainly was a boost from my original video card on my 4+ year old Power Mac G5. So for people like me looking to get a video card that could handle Final Cut Studio 2 better (especially the Color application) this is the card you want. It's a little pricey for only 256mb but worth it. I also recommend you actually load the drivers, as it was a little buggy when I attempted to just plug and play. Otherwise, again, great ... 5 STAR--SO EASY TO INSTALL AND IT WORKS PERFECTLY-IT HAS MET ALL OF MY EXPECTATIONS OF WHAT THEY SAID IT WOULD DO. I WAS LEARY OF IT AND WHAT THE OPERATIONAL RESULTS WOULD BE BUT IT HAS PERFORMED TOP NOTCH ! WOULD RECOMMEND HIGHLY.

I use my G5 every day for my graphic design business. As awesome as they may be, I am trying to put off the leap to an Intel-based Mac Pro for a while longer. I have decided to spend a few hundred bucks in upgrading theG5's graphics card, RAM and hard drive.

Does this seller tell us that it is NEW? Yes. Was it NEW when I received it? NO. The plastic envelope which the item was shipped in and which contains the graphics card had obviously been sliced open. I checked for fingerprints on the installation CD's and could clearly see where there had been an attempt to wipe them clean. Does this seller claim that this product works with G-4's? Yes.
