I bought this to use with the optical output on my new laptop, but it broke because of all the moving around that comes naturally with a laptop. The base of the tip broke, so now the whole tip wiggles, but surprisingly it still works fine. I guess the optical fiber inside of the tip is flexible, while the black plastic casing around it is not.

it is a very high quality product both in construction and performance, although it would be better to purchase this on a larger order so as to justify the shipping cost.I think the shipping cost more than the product, but it is a good product.

I needed this to connect my Logitech Z-5500 speakers via the Optical output on my Sounblaster X-Fi Extreme Gamer sound card.(Why does Creative skimp and use a 3.5mm "flex plug" for optical out??)The adapter diminishex the light level to the point that the sound quality is effected.I have since gone back to the analog connections.
