On hot summer days nothing beats a scoop of snow--to eat! This delightful Snowman churns out bowlfuls of shaved ice in just seconds. Kids can slurp flavored sno-cones for a birthday party and adults can sip frozen daiquiris for evenings on the deck. Two 4-inch round plastic molds with lids are included for freezing water, syrup-flavored water, or fruit juices. Simply place the frozen round (regular ice cubes will work, too, but not as well) in the blade unit, cover with the motorized top, and press down on the palm-size operating button. A bowl placed underneath (not included) catches the instant snow. For safety the sharp blade is completely internal and not accessible to fingers when the Snowman is operating. The machine measures 13 inches high when assembled, with an 8-inch-square base. A one-year warranty covers the Snowman against defects. --Ann Bieri

This ice shaver is easy to use and creates shavings very close to the texture of snow.Do not use regular ice cubes because they slip and do not shave properly.The ice formed in the included containers works wonderfully because it stays in place and shaves very quickly.This product can easily be used by a child over the age of 6 with the supervision of an adult.

I bought this for my two children to enjoy when they are being good. It works well enough but if you fill the bin with too much ice it will not spin. I noticed some people here saying it was a dud when they got it but I bet you they didn't bother to check that. There is a switch underneath the motorized unit and if the activator on the bottom half does not activate the switch on the top half it will not work, hmmm, what a concept. Pros:
-Ease of use.Just place the ice and press the top. Tip: Do not press too hard and press on the side where the blade of the shaver is.
-Cleaning is easy.It is just water, so you actually just need to rinse it.I do not know if the blade rust, but make sure it is dry before you put it back to the shelf.
