Fresh Flow Purifying Pet Fountain encourages your pet to drink from its gently flowing stream of fresh, cool water. Veterinarian and trainer recommended. Silent running submersible pump. Translucent 50 oz. reservoir automatically adds water as needed. Adds oxygen and cools naturally. Filters water and reduces bacteria. Replaceable charcoal filter removes contaminants. Low voltage system for pet safety. Flow control lever. Convenient handle. Ramp reduces splashing and quiets running water. Made of easy to clean plastic. Minimal assembly required. UL approved submersible pump. Assembly Instructions Remove rubber band from pump. Place pump in area where raised 'L' ribs are in the back of base. Route cord out back of base through slot. Insert cord grommet in slot. Make sure pump control lever is not interfering with reservoir fit. Make sure reservoir snaps down snugly. Replace filter reservoir. Vertical pipe should extend downward and connect to black outflow pipe on pump. Fill bowl until water level is just above hub of flow lever. Fill filter reservoir with water. Remove water reservoir. Unscrew cap. Add water. Replace cap. Replace water reservoir in base. Remove filter from package. Rinse in clear water until all charcoal dust is removed (normal for this type of charcoal filter). Place filter in reservoir. Slide filter in slots diagonally. Place lid over reservoir and filter at top. Pump control lever should be on low before startup. Place waterer on dry floor indoors. I thought this would be the perfect solution for my sink drinkers.They do now drink out of this fountain.The best feature of this is the quiet motor, you can hardly hear it when more than a few feet away.the problem is that the motor starts to grind as soon as the water level goes down, which in our house is every day.So i find myself filling it all the time.You also have to have filters on hand.And it gets grimy quickly.I have several animals, so maybe if you have only one or two, ... I've had three of these, and my mother has had two.I've found that the older ones are better than the newer ones: pumps last longer, are quieter, and the pieces fit together better.The new ones (I've bought three in two years, for two households) have come with defective pumps, parts that jam together and are then impossible to separate for cleaning, and with parts missing.I think the company moved their production to a different facility, or in the case of the pumps may have switched suppliers, ... I owned this product prior to ordering a new one as the pump shot craps on the old one. The old one I had worked great. The new one that I just got is very noisy. In fact we had to put it in a room downstairs so that it wouldn't keep us up at night. It seems to make a loud buzzing sound that is very irritating and distracting. Had our Petmate for just over a year. I just tonight threw it in the garbage. When we first got it, it took my 2 cats over a month before they would go near it. They seemed to like it okay after that. About a month ago I found it had been leaking a little. I took it apart, cleaned it and it appeared to be okay.
