Friendsand relatives in different parts of the country can each set up theirown system and compare—-does Seattle or Boston receive more annualrainfall? The durable plastic cylinder with wire-screen top measures5-3/4 inches high and 4-1/2 inches in diameter at the base, and it canbe securely anchored to a deck or other outdoor fixture. A cableattached to the rain gauge plugs into its own small solar-poweredtransmitter (batteries for backup included), which in turn sends datato the main unit of the weather station (sold separately). The weatherstation is programmable to display readings in inches or millimeters,and measures daily and cumulative rainfall and rainfall rate.
