Amazon.com Review:
Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance brings the Mortal Kombat series a new 3-D fighting engine, adds tons of features and extras, and still offers up classic gameplay.

This installment features a 3-D battle system that still manages to maintain a 2-D feel. For example, pushing up on your controller makes you sidestep your opponent’s attacks, yet also allows you to jump in the air by tapping up plus a direction. A revamped fighting system offers up three different styles for each fighter (one includes a weapon technique). The multiple styles provide countless varieties of attacks for any given fighter. Different combinations of punches and kicks can be combined for very lengthy and powerful chain attacks similar to those in the Mortal Kombat of old. Fatalities are also back and rich in graphic representation.

New fighters join the cast of old favorites such as Sonya, Kano, Sub-Zero, Raiden, Scorpion, Johnny Cage, Jax, Cyrax, Kung Lao, Kitana, Quan Chi, Reptile, and Shang Tsung. The lavish environments surround your fighters with animated backgrounds and rich skylines. On some levels there are even breakable objects and hazards that you can interact with, such as pools of acid--the perfect landing place for a thrown opponent.

In addition to regular modes of gameplay (arcade, versus, etc.), there is an option called Konquest mode. This mode allows you to learn more about fighting styles, read up on each character’s personal history, and gain Koins. The koins can then be spent in the Krypt, allowing you to unlock a host of new characters, costumes, and early concept drawings. The plentiful additional content offered with this title includes special movies of The Making of Deadly Alliance and The History of Mortal Kombat.

Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance successfully reinvents the series by offering up a unique mix of improved graphics and stylized gameplay without compromising any of the features that made the MK series popular over the years. --Carlos Rodela

Pros
  • Complex gameplay
  • Realistic 3-D graphics
  • Hundreds of unlockable features

  • Unbalanced combo system

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - Not that thrilled
I love mortal kombat games, but this one just seemed week. There weren't that many players available. Deception has all of the players unlocked.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Mortal Kombat: DA Review
This is the first Mortal Kombat Fighter game relested only on home systems. It is a blast for any Mortal Kombat fan. The crisp Graphics and intencly deep story line all make for one of the best Mortal Kombats ever.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Loads of Fun
I recently purchased this game and have found it to be extremely addictive. Each fighter has its own unique fighting style and cool combination of moves which make the game not only fun but challenging. The higher up you go is the more difficult it gets and the quicker and more accurate your skills need to be. You find yourself not wanting to put down the controls so that you can get to the next level. The practice mode is quite useful in figuring out the combinations that best suit each fighter. ... Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - Decent, but Deception is better
Mortal Kombat's triumphant return with "Deadly Alliance" leaves somewhat of a sour taste leftover. The plus side is fatalities are easy to execute, however, each character only has one fatality, and some are downright silly. Deception plays the same as this game, but has a much better Konquest mode, better characters, and more fatalities. I only reccomend getting this if you want to play as Quan Chi, Kitana, Shang Tsung, Sonya Blade, Jax, or Raiden without his new "dark look" in deception. Or you ... Read More

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Sonya Blade looks pretty sexy!!!
This game is one of the best Mortal Kombat parts ever. The graphic is very good and also the sound is enjoyable, but the voices of these characters are sometimes the same. These voices are not good enough but everything else is fantastic. My favourite fighters are Jax (Height: 6'6" 198cm), Johnny Cage (Height: 6'1" 185cm) and that sexy woman named Sonya Blade (Height: 5'10" 179cm). Sonya Blade is one of the best created fighter. Sometimes I doubt to Sonya if there is a real actor behind her. Also ... Read More
