It lifts off its power base for cordless pouring. The 675 kettle has been used at least once a day for several weeks now (after receiving it as a gift from my folks who love theirs). It has now replaced a plastic Rival kettle that the household has not been sorry to see go. Although the Rival had longterm daily use, the 675 is a welcome addition for mainly one big reason: no spills!

The pot is supposed to auto switch off after the water boils. The auto-shutoff sensor is in the plastic lid and works when the heat builds up. From my very first use of the kettle I learned the greater the gap between the lid and the top rim of the kettle, the longer it takes the auto-shutoff feature to work. If the plastic lid does not stay down, then the auto-shutoff feature will not work.

Despite mixed reviews I haven't had a single problem with this kettle and I'd buy it again.My tea is ready in 5 minutes flat and the reheat is two minutes.I also tried hard boiled eggs in it, worked great.I would buy this product again.
