This sleek professional style fryer from trend-setting De Longhi, has many attractive features. Having the heating element right in the frying chamber results in even frying temperature and faster frying (which actually makes fried food healthier as less oil is absorbed). By placing its 1,650-watt heating element directly in the oil, this commercial-style deep fryer creates a current in the oil for fast, uniform frying and has a zone of cooler oil beneath the element into which food particles fall and don't burn. That means oil lasts longer without acquiring an off flavor. Capable of frying up to 3 pounds of food (and holding 5-1/4 quarts of oil), the fryer feeds a family or a soccer team. The rustproof chrome frying basket (5-1/4 by 9-1/4 inches) is rectangular for accommodating fish and long french fries and locks in the 'up' position for draining food. The fryer's thermostat adjusts from 140 to 360 degrees F, and an indicator light shines when oil reaches the selected temperature. For safety and to prevent overheating, the heating element shuts off automatically if something is wrong. A reset button starts it again after a cool-down interval.
Because the heating element and the frying pan can be removed, the stainless-steel fryer can be emptied and cleaned easily. It has a fingerprint-proof brushed finish and is equipped with stay-cool synthetic handles. During frying, the lid, which contains a fine-mesh, stainless-steel filter for reducing odor, fits in place, with the basket's stay-cool handle extending outside. Bought our unit with the intent of having it around for a while.Liked the seemingly unique design and functionality.WOW!WHAT A BUST!!!!Same problem as the other good folks in previous reviews.Powered it up one day, and the burners were INOP?Huh, must be the reset eh? nope??? Much of what is said in the previous is true and are the good points to this fryer. I will avoid repeating all of the nice features of this appliance and only argue with one point. The highest available cooking temperature of 360 degrees is an issue if you cook fries in two stages. 375 degrees are necessary to obtain that crispy outer coating and flaky interior. We bought this de luxe deep fryer, Model No. D406DZ, about 3 years ago.We have used it twice.That's right -- 2 times. We stored it indoors,clean, in a safe place, in its original box and packing material.
Saturday night last, I went to use it.The heating element would not heat.I followed all the instructions, but got no success.
