Amazon.com Review: Heating up a little chowder or hot chocolate is easy with this tidy blue hot pot from Proctor-Silex. Built to handle up to 1 quart at a time, the pot features a variable temperature dial to let you gently warm soup or quickly boil water for tea. A comfortable, soft-grip handle makes accurate pouring easy, while the lid removes completely for measuring, cooking, and cleaning. Stable on its base, the unit measures 10-1/2 by 8 by 6 inches and has handy quantity markings on the inside. It boils 4 cups of water in nine minutes and heats up soup in as few as two. The sides of the friendly blue pot are slightly translucent so you can see at a glance how much liquid is left. --Emily Bedard
Customer Reviews Average Rating: Rating: - Not very safe! This hot pot was the only (!!!) kind of electric tea kettle available anywhere locally (checked WalMart, KMart, Big Lots, Hall's Hardware, and the grocery stores).
What I strongly dislike about the pot is the fact that it doesn't switch off automatically once its content has reached the boiling point. It also doesn't have an off switch, so make sure you unplug it after every use!
Another safety hazard is the lid: I have scalded myself several times because I hadn't put ... Read More
Rating: - You get what you pay for =) This little blue pot boils water fast and is great for making tea or ramen noodles. It'd be nice if there was an off switch instead of having to unplug it but the product works well. The non-stick cover on the heating element that forms the middle of the base on the inside is easy to clean and the cup gauge on the inside is nice too.
Rating: - Takes a beating I have been using this product several times a day- almost daily- for extended periods of time and it has worked like a champ. The only reasons I didn't give it five stars is because: 1. The spout tends to dribble down the side a bit when you go to pour it out - maybe it's just me, but I don't feel I should have to experiment in finding the "optimal pouring angle". 2. When I go to turn the tempurature down to the off position I will not only hear a click (no problem) but will see a flash through ... Read More
Rating: - Proctor Silex Hot Pot LOVE IT!!!!!I have this one in my office to make Ramen Noodles.I put the water in, It boils in under 2 minutes, I add noodles and presto, I have lunch in under 4 minutes.I've been using this for about a year now and it still looks and works like new.All I do is rinse it out as soon as I am finished eating.I can't imagine having anything that would be more convenient or reliable.
Rating: - Pretty good quick boiling. the only thing I don't like is there is no auto turn-off function when it is boiling.
