A moderately priced companion to Wüsthof's renowned Classicforged knives, this Gourmet series 7-inch bread knife has the samefull-tang, three-rivet, virtually indestructible poly handle as Classicknives. Instead of being forged, however, Gourmet series blades are cutfrom steel sheets by precision lasers. That means they have nobolsters. But it also means they are perfectly shaped and fit handlesseamlessly. And the blades' high-carbon stainless steel is identical tothat of Wüsthof's premium knives, only thinner. The bread knife has araised handle for comfort when slicing through crusty loaves, making iteasier to cut cleanly through the bottom crust. Rating:  - love this knife
I got mine here at some super sale, probably a friday sale. I would not usually be able to justify the cost of this knife.
I had never used one, just noticed one in a kitchen someone I know to buy the best of everything.
My family loves a good loaf of crusty bread sliced thin, and this knife is just perfect.
The knife is now two years old, and it cuts bread like it was new. I would guess it will still be years before it will need sharpening.
Rating:  - Nice knife, but falls short of "Classic" Quality
I got this knife as a "Gold Box" item. I expected it would be the same well designed full tanged knife as the rest of my Wusthof "Classic" knives (I have 8). It is not, and it doesn't have the same balance and heft that I've learned to expect from the Classic line. None the less this is a good bread knife, I'm am concerned about how long it will hold an edge however. I do prefer my 9" Classic bread knife. On the upside I find I cut bread more evenly with the offset handle.

I bought this knife because of a great review in The New York Times.Every word of it is true. You will return to this knife over and over.It will be THE knife that you always reach for.
