Editorial Review: Long before TV shows like Battlebots, there were these guys: twoplastic boxers battling it out in a ring, tirelessly jabbing at each other in an effort to knocktheir opponent's block off. Years go by and these fighters (creatively referred to in myhouse as 'the blue one' and 'the red one') are still at it, still operated by two playersworking simple controllers, and still madly punching in an effort to knock loose the otherfellow's spring-loaded head. As was traditionally the case, it takes a while to maneuverthe robots such that you can even land any punch, let alone a knockout blow. But forintense silly robot fighting, without the hassle of batteries, these guys are still champs.--John Moe
Customer Reviews Average Rating: Rating: - Fun for the whole family This was a gift for my husband more so than for my 6 year old - I had heard him reminising many times about when he was a kid & played it.But on Christmas morning everyone had a ball with it - my in-laws, husband and daughter were all sitting and playing with it and EVERYONE was having fun with it, laughing as they socked each other - not just my daughter. It was especially fun for my daughter to be able to beat her father as she jabbed away at his robot.I don't know the quality or size of ... Read More
Rating: - Rockem Sockem Robots These were a big hit on Christmas Day with my grandsons and sons in law. They held boxing tournaments. They created a bit of nostalgia for the dads who had played with them as children.
Rating: - It's all fun! This is a toy I can remember as a child. There's nothing to it.What I love is No batteries!
Rating: - Troop Suppoter I got this for my brother-in-law who is currently serving in Iraq.Yes, he is over the age limit on the box, but he said that he and his other troops get bored and they wanted something that reminded them of their childhood. He hasn't gotten it yet, but I am sure we will hear from him when he does.
Rating: - Utter Trash I've never played with the original set, so I have no basis for comparison, but the 2 sets I have bought (the first as a gift for someone else) are utter trash. The robots are difficult to manipulate, and even if you have one person hold one robot down and the other punch it repeatedly it still takes an absurdly long amount of time for the head to pop up. No play value at all.
