Editorial Review:
Amazon.com: This often unintentionally hilarious feature is an addled retelling of the legend of Theseus, mixed with bits of other classical myths, Western fairy tales, recent Disney films, Eastern concepts of reincarnation, and the curious ideas of spiritual guru Ryuho Okawa, who founded the Institute for Research in Human Happiness. Hermes is not a god, but a human prince who defeats King Minos, rescues Princess Aphrodite, and works to unify Greece. Watching over these adventures is Ophealis, the God of Creation [sic], who enables Hermes to visit both a vaguely Dantesque hell and a kitsch, Day-Glo heaven. At one point, Hermes is told by Ophealis that he is the reincarnation of Ophealis--although that means he's talking with himself and existing in two different forms simultaneously. (Okawa reportedly claims to be the reincarnation of both Hermes and Ophealis.) Unrated; suitable for ages 14 and up: Violence, brief nudity. --Charles Solomon
