Editorial Review:
Amazon.com Product Description: There are two types of racing games: one for gearheads who know the difference between double A-arm and panhard rod suspensions, and one for the rest of us who know the difference between the gas and brake pedals. If you're in the latter group, listen up because one of the highest-grossing arcade racers of all time, Daytona USA, has come to the Dreamcast. Not only can you go head-to-head in two-player split-screen mode, but you can also race up to three other Dreamcasters via the Internet. Before you take that car out on the information superhighway, though, you might want to think about downloading a competitor's driving record and data in the form of a ghost car, against which you can develop your racing strategy.
Customer Reviews Average Rating: Rating: - Welcome to Victory Lane! Back in 1994, Daytona USA ruled arcades around the world. The phrase "Gentlemen, Start Your Engines" could be heard everywhere you go! At the time, 3D games were in its begining stages. Daytona USA displayed the most advanced 3D technology at the time. The amazing sense of speed and beauty were breath-taking! Gamers like myself were floored and couldn't believe an arcade racing game can look this good. Created by Yu Suzuki and his Sega AM2 Divison, Daytona USA quickly becomes the #1 gross revenue ... Read More
Rating: - This game is great. Daytona U.S.A. is the best racing game on Sega Dreamcast. Daytona is better than Speed Devils. You need online to unlock all the cars. The online is great. Buy this game it great. This is a Sega Dreamcast classic. This game is kind of like burnout.
Rating: - Arcade classic reaches home! This game is probably the best arcade-style driving game ever ported to a home system. It has awesome graphics, addictive music track, and really fast, intense tracks. The control is kinda tough to figure out, but it's a very minor flaw. A sure MUST BUY title.
Be warned: the online mode NO LONGER WORKS. Sega already said it will NOT be back, ever. Not to worry, though: split screen mode works really well.
Rating: - Daytona Comes to the Console People who enjoyed the arcade version of Daytona will enjoy this game equally. There is just something about the physics and the appearance of the arcade Daytona that I always liked. It doesn't have a million cars to choose from and the car reflections are not as impressive as Super GT... but the game is just fun.I think you'll find the dreamcast version of this game to be just like the arcade version, so you can base your judgement on that.
Rating: - Would of been good..... This game could've gone down as one of te bet racing games ever to hit the DC. But this did not happen for these reasons:
No Damage to cars after a crash
You can drive head on into traffic get in a crash that makes you flip 4 times and still be in the race at regular speed.
Online play requires multiple downloads
Those are my reasons for giving this game a 2 you don[t]... ha[v]...e[t]...o believe me but if your shopping for a racing game on the DC just pretend ... Read More
