One of the nice things about Windows CE devices is that manufacturers don't have to stick to a specific design. They can make large screens or small screens, add keyboards or rely solely on the touch screen for input, and basically do whatever they want. Hewlett-Packard decided to make a do-anything device when they designed the Jornada 720, and on most counts they have succeeded.
The device sports a keyboard just large enough for comfortable touch typing anda large 640 x 240 screen that makes Web browsing and document editing mucheasier than is the case with a smaller device. This useful combination meansthat most people will be able to use the Jornada 720 as a notebook computerreplacement. However, if you're looking for the ultimate in portable handheldcomputing, you'll have to look elsewhere.
The 720 is about as loaded as a Windows CE device can get; it comes with anintegrated 56 Kbps V.90 modem, docking station for easy connection to a PC, ACadapter, and rechargeable battery. It's outfitted with 32 MB of RAM and a 206 MHz StrongARM processor that really makes applications fly. On themultimedia side you get an integrated speaker and stereo headphone jack foraudio playback, and one of the most beautiful TFT active matrix displays we'veseen. It can mix and match more than 65,000 colors at once, renders very crisptext, and never had trouble keeping up with our input like inferior passivematrix screens do.
The very thing that makes the Jornada 720 so useful--itsrelatively large size--is also its biggest drawback. Its weight can make itunwieldy, and there's no good way to get a grip on it when there isn't a flatsurface to use it with. We ended up accidentally pressing keys far too oftenwhen holding the unit with one hand, though with a little practice jugglingbecomes much easier.

this is a very nice little system.it's a little out dated but what do you exspect buying old tech.it has very good functionality, easy to use.alot of people complain about the key board but i think its perfect for the king of tool your buying. it's not a full size laptop, so it's got to be compact and i think hp did a really good job doing that.

Don't think PDA...think small computer. Because that's what this really is. With new micro computers such as the Asus EEE now becoming popular but still costing heaps, time to have another look! Can do everything on this unit, including play movies with freeware software, plus do all of your office tasks and internet browsing. New memory card sizes make it a lot more valuable than when it first came out...add a 2GB card, and store lots of movies, documents, presentations and MP3 files!

It is not a great item if u just fancy a touch screen without much functionality and outdated techology

This is a marvelous device, great for a writer. I can work on my stories on the fly and synchronize to my laptop for editing.
Containing Excel, Word, Power Point, Outlook, it is everything you can ask for in on-the-go computing.
The charge lasts about 9 hours at a time; I plug it in every other night to keep it topped off, and carry it in my pocket on the subway.
Lay in an extra battery if you can (before HP stops making the product - they are up to Jornada 900)
Rating: - Good memories but you can't go home again
I am on my 2nd Jornada 720; the first one I positively loved, but in the rush to upgrade (and free up some money) I sold it in 2003.
Recently the Jornada handhelds have fallen into Bargain Bin status, and I picked up my current 720 and a 680e (older sibling) for almost nothing.The 720 is by far the snappier and better of the two.The 680e is a little heavier and bigger, and better as a mobile typing platform.
