Amazon.com Review:
Content advisory: Realistic blood and gore, realistic violence

Straight from the fiery pits of Hades (and the folks at Capcom, of course) comesa devilishly addictive video game with action to spare. Based on thecomic book by Todd McFarlane,Spawn has become a successfulcartoon, a mediocremovie, anaction figure, and, with theadvent of Spawn: In the Demon's Hand, a video game.

Spawn's entry in the video game world is not so much a fighting game along thelines of Virtua Fighter, but more akin to a smaller scale GauntletLegends, with power-ups and weapons that lie around a 3-D landscape that'sfilled with ferocious enemies. Spawn: In the Demon's Hand offers threedistinct fighting modes--team, battle royal, and boss--and features graphicsthat are so sharp, it feels almost like you're playing one of McFarlane'scomic-book characters come-to-life.

Unfortunately, the game's controls are somewhat difficult to master--movement iscontrolled by the digital pad, and aiming is performed with the analog joystick.Add the incredibly quick action and multiple characters on the screen, andyou've got what can be sometimes a confusing mess.

The faint of heart will be pleased to see that, along with toggles for the skilland volume levels, Spawn: In the Demon's Hand features a three-stageviolence option that allows the player to ease the gore. Parents should note, however: even with the violence level turned all the way down, Spawn's idea ofconflict resolution still involves a magic chain to the noggin. --BenjaminReese

Pros:
  • Incredibly rendered graphics
  • Characters true to McFarlane's comics
Cons:
  • Nonintuitive controls can be hard to handle
  • Some might be turned off by demonic themes and violence
  • Easy to lose track of extremely fast action

I didnt no wat to think when i bought this because of spawns bad video game seen before. This game is from tha arcade and is better then its original. Multi player is awesome to bad no online. those who have the aracde stick get this. variety of characters 100's of weapons this is up with quake 3 arena and unreal tournament. Graphics are as good as quake and unreal but charcater sight isin a sky view which makes it looks not as good but it is.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Absolutely brilliant (At first)
This game is absolutely brilliant at first: the splendid graphics , the plethora of weapons at your disposal, the genius level layout, the more than abundant gore but the fun gradually fades away after about 6 or 7 hours of playing it. Do not get me wrong, this one of the best if not best spawn based games available right now but nothing can negate the fact that it just becomes a bit tedious after you have unlocked most of its characters and galleries. If it was not for this I would give this game ... Read More

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Multiplayer fun WITHOUT the difficult fps controls
On most current games like Unreal 2 for Xbox, you have to control the aiming manually. But with this Spawn game for Dreamcast, it has automatic lock-on aiming, and the sword and axe weapons do not require you to aim.

So it's very easy to control your characters movement, and it's not frustrating.

There are over 30 characters taken from the comicbook. And most of them look great in 3D graphics.

I think this is one of the top 5 games made for the Dreamcast. Although ... Read More

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Addict
I sold my Dreamcast a while back, a long while back and now regret it. I cant stop wanting to play this game. Dang i wish i could play it on my Xbox. The controller is prefect for the game. I still remember the filling and the squills of my Friends as i jump down behind them as Dark ages spawn. They new they where dead. or when my cousen missed a shot with twitch and found a tremer fist in his face. OH YES I REMEMBER i guess i will have to buy a dream cast agian just for the game.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Spawn ROCKS
This game is the best game on dreamcast. You have an uncountable amount of hidden characters that you can only unlock by beating the boss mode with different characters each time.Sometimes you get 2 new characters, 1 new character, or, unfortunatly none. You can play for hours without putting down your controllers.I couldn't.
