Editorial Review:
Product Description: PYREX glassware is incredibly durable and easy to clean. Unlike earthenware, porcelain or enameled dishes, PYREX glass absorbs, rather than reflects oven heat waves. This speeds the cooking process and helps save energy. It's a durable and practical form of cookware that's easy to clean and attractive to serve with. PYREX glassware products can go directly from refrigerator or freezer to a microwave, convection, or preheated conventional oven.A small amount of liquid should be added to the ovenware vessel prior to baking foods that release liquids while cooking.
Amazon.com Review: Pyrex was the first company to create a line of glass bakeware so cooks could actually see how their food was cooking. At the time, it was revolutionary; now--like all great inventions--we take it for granted. In fact, these days this pie plate from Pyrex, a company that's been making quality glass products for the better part of a century, costs less than a bowl of pasta at the Italian joint down the street. Not a bad deal considering it transitions flawlessly from oven to microwave to freezer to dishwasher. If you're moderately careful (it is glass, after all), this dish will last you a lifetime--a lifetime of gooey brownies and moist, frosting-heavy cakes. --Meg Heffernan
Customer Reviews Average Rating: Rating: - Pleased I read the reviews and decided to try it myself.I am glad I did because it has performed as expected.I have always had luck before with Pyrex products, and this was no exception.
Rating: - Pyrex exploded in the oven! I bought my Pyrex in 2005.Until tonight's dinner, there were no problems.10 minutes after placing the (room-temperature) Pyrex in the oven, my husband heard an explosion. It had shattered into large pieces, smaller pieces, and hundreds of shards. After researching it on Amazon, we learned that Pyrex made after 1998 is actually manufactured by a different company and the manufacturing standards are not as good.Beware!
Rating: - Perfect Pyrex You just can't beat Pyrex for baking.I got this to replace a broken dish that sets inside a wicker basket.Works great!
Rating: - An essential dish for every kitchen I have only GOOD things to say about this baking dish.I bought one for myself when I got my first apartment.Five years later, and it still looks brand new and I use it all the time.In fact, I had to buy a second one (in blue this time) because I use this so much!
This dish is a good size for making meals for one or two people, as well as side dishes for more, or brownies, etc.It fits nicely in the fridge or freezer for storage, in the microwave for easy reheating, and in the dishwasher ... Read More
