The mouth of this gently rounded pot measures 9 inches across, while its flat bottom is only 4 inches, allowing you to use the small burner on your stove for a relatively big pot: the wide surface area will speed any soup or stock reduction you have in mind. Cast iron, of course, has marvelous heating qualities, so heat spreads evenly from this pot's base up its sides. You can also use this soup pot in the oven; loop handles help you carry and lift even the heaviest casserole. The baked-on interior and exterior enamel coating means this pot will not react with any acidic foods and is easy to clean. Rating: - wonderful and versatile!
I got this soup pot a week ago and since then I have been using it all the time---for soup, porridge, risotto, moderate portion of stewing and much more. It's large enough for 2-3 persons, while its medium size won't occupy too much space in the kitchen. It also serves perfectly as a presentable dish itself and the classic flame colour always lightens up the whole table. Absolutely love it!

I purchased my soup pot through amazon.com, fast shipping and couldn't pass up the $99 sale price. This is my first soup pot, and I love the size, just perfect for stews and soup.It's sturdy and beautiful,I have the flame color. I have been collecting the Le Creuset cookware, I have the 3qt. buffet, 5 qt.dutch oven,large fry pan, 2 qt. saute pan. It is pricey but well worth the price, these will last forever. I'm saving up for the 6.5 qt wide dutch oven.Buy the soup pot you will not regret it!

I have several Le Creuset pieces but I have to say this soup pot is my favorite. I use it almost everyday. Not only it is good for soups but I use it for everything. It cooks rice to perfection. The also good about this particular pot is that the cap is not really heavy. We all know the only drawback of cast iron is being heavy but this actually a lightweight perfect cast iron pot. It's worth every penny.
Rating: - Good Heavy Pot for Beans
The pot worked very well using a very low heat source.The lid is heavy andseals the steam in.My only problem was in having oil in the cooking broth for the beans.They did not get soft as fast as when water only is used.The pot is very pretty to look at.I prefer this pot to a pressure cooker for cooking meat in stews.To me, the high pressure and temperature of a pressure cooker diminish the taste of the stew ingredients.

I love this pot. It does bring out the taste of all ingredients. My husband also noticed the difference in the dish I made yesterday! I am so happy about this purchase!
