Product Description:
Le Creuset Round French Oven - This everyday Round French Oven (or Dutch oven, referred by most people) never makes it to the cupboard: it goes from the stove or oven to the table to the dishwasher then back to the stove for tomorrow's dinner. If there are leftovers in the pot, save them for tomorrow. You can store it in the refrigerator or in the freezer and not worry about food reacting to the porcelain enamel surface. For generations, families have come to cherish the classic cocotte - the Round French Oven. This everyday pot never makes it to the cupboard: it goes from the stove or oven to the table to the dishwasher then back to the stove for tomorrow's dinner. If you want to keep leftovers in the refrigerator or freezer, you can store in our Le Creuset pot and not worry about food reacting to the porcelain enamel surface.

Amazon.com Review:

Beautiful enough to bring to the table, yet durable enough to outlive its 101-year warranty against defects, this heavy French oven is perfect for preparing and serving ceremonious dishes such as braised short ribs with sauerkraut, cassoulet, and vegetable soup. Use it in the oven or on the stovetop. Made of cast-iron, which is unexcelled for its heat distribution and retention, this French oven cooks foods evenly and gently without hot spots at low temperatures and is suitable for all heat sources. This pan holds 7-1/4 quarts, measures 11 inches in diameter, and its exterior and interior are clad in two coats of Le Creuset's famous bright enamel. The plastic knob on its heavy, tight-fitting lid is ovenproof to 450 degrees F. Loop handles facilitate carrying, and the oven is dishwasher-safe. Like all Le Creuset cast-iron products, it is hand-cast in a one-of-a-kind sand mold and hand-finished at the Le Creuset factory in France.--Fred Brack

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Excellent Product!
I purchased this item on March 1, 2006.Since that time we have used it to make chicken soup, tomato sauce, and chili. We have also braised chicken and boiled corned beef and cabbage. It heats VERY evenly -- unlike cheaper alternatives. The pot itself is pretty heavy -- something to consider if you have carpal tunnel or arthritis in your hands/wrists.The lid is also pretty heavy -- but I like that because it forms a tighter seal. After 2+ years it still looks like new.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Pricey, but worth it
The 7 1/4 Quart Round French Oven is my first foray into the world of Le Creuset and I've been nothing but pleased with this item. It appears to be of exceptional quality- a recent trip to a popular "home & kitchen" type store provided plenty of opportunity for comparison, and the quality of the Le Creuset piece was obviously superior to anything the store had for sale.

I intend to replace my current cookware piece by piece with Le Creuset items.Which, while seemingly expensive, ... Read More

Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - The pot is not high quality like I thought it was
I bought a Le Creuset stockpot for my wife. She used it a few times to cook rice, then noticed a big hole in the enamel in the bottom of the pot. The pot is not high quality like I thought it was.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - I love our Le Creuset french oven
This is our second Le Creuset french oven.I bought a huge 13 1/4 Le Creuset french oven a few years ago and we use it all the time.My husband is the chef in our family and he uses our Le Creuset cookware to make his stews, chili, gumbo, etc.For those who don't need to cook gigantic portions, the 7 1/4 qt french oven is plenty large enough enough to feed a family and still have leftovers. We've used many types of cookware over the years but find that the Le Creuset is better at heat distribution ...
