Editorial Review:
Amazon.com: Be afraid: insects outnumber humans 200 million to one. Or just be fascinated. Likely you'll be more of the latter after seeing this playful, zippy tour through the microworld of Class Insecta. Another installment in the award-winning Eyewitness series, Eyewitness: Insect uses DK's trademark MTV-speed editing, high-quality computer animation, stunning photography, and playful reenactments to effortlessly hold the attention of kid and adult alike. And, as they say, if you're not careful you just might learn something.
Celebrity narrator Martin Sheen explains why bugs don't grow big, how crickets hear with their knees, and why the termite queen doesn't wander far from her 5 million subjects and her eight-foot-high skyscraper palace. (As it turns out, she's busy laying 30,000 eggs a day!) From slo-mo fly swats to time-lapse locust swarms, this action-packed half-hour will have you reaching for the remote to pause and rewind, as Sheen surveys everything from insect morphology to insect mythology. You may want something a little more heavy-duty if you're prepping for the Insect GRE, but Eyewitness: Insect is certainly enough to spark interest in--and inspire further study of--our six-legged friends. --Paul Hughes

It grabs their attention and at the same time provides them with correct and useful information on creepy crawlers. Hint:Eyewitness has videos onmany other animal classes:retiles-fish-birds-etc.I have never been disappointed with the reactions of my students towardsthese wonderful videos.
