Editorial Review:

Product Description:
In The New Rules of Lifting for Women, authors Lou Schuler, Cassandra Forsythe, and Alwyn Cosgrove present a comprehensive strength, conditioning, and nutrition plan destined to revolutionize the way women work out. All the latest studies prove that strength training, not aerobics, provides the key to losing fat and building a fit, strong body.

This book refutes the misconception that women will “bulk up” if they lift heavy weights. Nonsense! It’s tough enough for men to pack on muscle, and they have much more of the hormone necessary to build muscle: natural testosterone. Muscles need to be strengthened to achieve a lean, healthy look. Properly conditioned muscles increase metabolism and promote weight loss—it’s that simple.

The program demands that women put down the “Barbie” weights, step away from the treadmill, and begin a strength and conditioning regime for the natural athlete in every woman.

The New Rules of Lifting for Women, now in paperback, will change the way women see fitness, nutrition, and their own bodies.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Buy this book!
This book is written mainly by Lou Schuler, a journalist and strength and conditioning coach.Alwyn Cosgrove designs the workouts in the book and Cassandra Forsythe designs the meal plans and recipes. These are experts that I keep up with and respect very much so we're off to a good start.

WHO IS THIS BOOK FOR
This book says it's for anyone from beginners to experienced exercisers.I disagree that it's for all beginners. I think there is a lot to digest in this book and beginners ... Read More

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Loving the workouts
This book is easy to read and is packed with information.
I am about 15 workouts into the program and am loving the challenge. I am defiantly stronger, and noticing good changes. There is a whole section devoted to nutrition which compliments the exercises.
For more fat loss/burn information also check out the New Rules of Lifting (it says its a man book, but neither books are really gender specific)
This book is a must for anyone looking to spice up their workout!

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Not for "girly" girls
This book is great for those who really want to work hard and sculpt their body. It's great for beginners as well as those more advanced. His descriptions of the exercises are good, but it was lacking on the diet end of weight training.I would have liked to have seen more nutrition information.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Informative
This book is awesome.Whole new perspective on weight training for women. You will not be bored with your work-outs any longer!

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Step away from the pink dumbbells ...
I bought this book when it first came out after reading about it in my local fitness club magazine. I recently finished the entire program and really enjoyed it. There's nothing to fear lifting weights, and by doing real weightlifting with heavy loads you will build muscle. Of course it's important to remember that diet is key and that's one reason that this book exists. The exercise routines themselves aren't tailored to women, because they are normal free weight exercise that any man or woman can do. ... Read More
