Electronics Garmin nüvi 760 Portable GPS Automobile Navigator
page 1 of  20
Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Garmin 760 nuvi
I've been using this for about a month now. It's been an invaluable aid to navigation in that time, as I recently moved to a new area.

The heart of the GPS is its direction finding capability. It gives clear, concise directions, which are also displayed on the map, as well as spoken. The directions have not yet been wrong, although they may not always give you the route that you would normally think to use if you knew the way.The only problem I have seen is that when inputting an address for the GPS to find for you, it tends to undershoot the exact address. It's not a problem, as when I went looking for a specific address, I ended up so close that I could find the store on my own.You can later input the exact location as a favorite and name it so that it doesn't happen again.

Some side features that are useful follow. The distance to the next turn or waypoint is always displayed on the bottom right, and pushing that will bring up more information about your route.Your ETA is displayed in the bottom left (using speed limits for calculation, so stopping at a red or speeding will change the time), pushing on that will give you information about your driving (speed, avg speed, max speed, distance traveled, etc). Finally, it has both an internal memory and an SD card slot for mp3s, locations, etc.I haven't used the bluetooth, so I can't comment on that. The traffic locator I don't find too useful with so little traffic here, but it does tell me when I should expect a problem, and the GPS allows me to detour to avoid.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - nuvi 760
This gps unit is very easy to use and is packed with features. The screen is fantastic. The only things that I do not like so far is that the FM modulator could be better.Sound quality is not good at all and it cannot see many of the songs I put on the sd card. Also, the suction cup that the unit mounts to is quite week and tends to fall off especially when there is temperature change. This being said, the main function of the gps is to guide you from one point to another. In this area the 760 excels.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Great GPS
Purchased this unit as a refurbished.I would have never known.Shipping was fast and the price was great.Only issue I have is now the nuvi 765 is now out and I could use the actual lane navigation assistance at times.
Great product!

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - Not bad at all but room for improvement
Just received the 760 and have had it for about a week.I too have noticed that the voice prompts are delayed a bit.I recommend looking at the map and the highlighted route that it prescribes and preparing yourself for the actual turn/exit.Therefore when the voice prompt comes up, you'll know that you made the right turn haha. One less star rating for the voice prompt delay.

Also note to prospective buyers, CHECK THE GARMIN SITE FOR SUPPORTED CELL PHONES FOR THE BLUETOOTH FEATURE!!!I just figured since my phone was pretty new and had just bought it this past summer (LG Venus), I thought it would connect just fine.Unfortunately, my phone is not compatible with the bluetooth connectivity so one less star for that.

Looking past these two cons, the gps unit is pretty solid.Connecting to the satellite and recalculating routes when you go off the recommended path are pretty quick. We're talking about mere seconds and you're up and running. The maps, colors, display, touch functionality, and overall design are well made. The most important part of a gps unit is the ability to give you directions and get you from A to B in a timely and efficient matter. The 760 will do just that and thus deserves a 3/5 rating!

Rating: 2 out of 5 stars - Good navigation, delayed turn prompts
The Garmin Nuvi does a fine job of giving directions from place A to B, but it's voice prompts are delayed. So it'll tell me to turn after I already passed the point where I need to turn. What's the point of having a GPS that doesn't provide directions in a timely manner?
