Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - No surprises
Purchased for two special reasons: looking for a wireless network printer and one that can handle greeeting card stock. It meets both requirements well.

POSITIVES: It is fast and colors are accurate.Ink buckets seem to be massive (and COSTCO is stocking a set of extra large HP brand ink buckets that are not available anywhere else).

NEGATIVES: HP (in standard install) seems to load up a lot of supplemental applications that just complicate matters unless you are TOTALLY aligining with printing on this printer only and want to work with all kinds of HP tools.I just want this printer for specialized uses.My Epson does 80% of my work, and I prefer to use my own utilities and supporting applications.Carefully consider your options when doing the initial install.Paper supply tray has small capacity.I haven't measured, but maybe 30-50 sheets max.You won't change ink more than once every few months with moderate use, but you will probably have to tend the paper tray daily!

Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - HP PHOTOSMART D7460 - CLEVERLY DESIGNED TO EMPTY YOUR WALLET!
As I concur with my fellow reviewers, the HP Photosmart D7460 was easy to set up and run.I purchased this printer along with my new HP Laptop - as I received $50 off the retail price. After only several weeks of using this printer, I found that it ran thru all of the color cartridges quite quickly.I don't print much, but it seemed that every time I used the printer, the screen indicated that I needed to replace one or more of the color cartridges! This printer was engineered/designed to foster several repurchases of their HP 02 cartridges ,,, which are pricy!I never have had to purchase so many replacement oolor catridges for a printer in my life.Although the photographic quality of printouts is quite good, overall -- the HP PHOTOSMART D7460 IS A RIP OFF!DO NOT BUY THIS PRINTER!DO NOT BUY THIS PRINTER!DO NOT BUY THIS PRINTER!There are better, more economical choices out there. I wish I did my research. What a RIP OFF!Thanks HP!!!Now I'm sharing my story with the world!

Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - Network Failure
I bought this specifically to be a networked computer (wired). First major issue was installation. Kept getting error messages and some of the HP software installed could not see the computer even though I could see it on my network. At this point it would print. After much grief trying to get the installation to go without getting error messages (and after Googling the issue and looking at their support site), I wrote HP and was informed that this was just the way it is if the computer is hooked via the network. So here we have really sloppy software function...they have a known issue that gives errors and neither the install program nor their website lets the consumer know that this is "normal". So I uninstalled the extra several hundred MB of software that HP says I don't need anyway, which cannot see it's own computer on my network, and move on. All is fine for a while, then the thing stops printing. Again, my computer sees the printer on the network, but I keep getting errors in the print dialog box. Another fruitless search through HP's website. I try shutting down antivirus, firewall, and finally all of my Start-up items. Still nothing. At this point I am faced with trying to reinstall the whole software package for the umpteenth time, and decide to throw in the towel. At some point frustrated computer users have to return to their lives and give up on crap software. I move it from the spot in my study where I wanted this thing to be (where there is no computer, which was part of my reason to pay for a networkable printer), and install it the old fashioned way with USB, and it works fine.

My only reason for giving it even one star is my hope that it will not be like my last 3-4 Epson printers, which do fine for a while then get unrecoverable printer head problems and end up in a landfill. Maybe this one, with printer heads built into the ink cartridge, albeit at a higher cartridge cost, will give me high quality printing for a while. But do not buy this if you want a headache-less networked printer. By the way, I installed this into a network of both XP and Vista machines, so the operating system was not the issue. Didn't work on any of them.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Good quality prints but what is it doing???
First of all, I love the print quality. It easily detects photos vs documents and chooses the correct paper to print on.I like the separate ink catridges and software has level indicators. Also, the card reader is nice and with the display screen you can easily navigate your pictures on storage cards.

But, most of the time it is busy doing some sort of preparation. Its takes several minutes to get ready, reads ink levels, does a song and a dance spins around touches its nose and takes a deep breath then voila, its time to print my document. Yippee!!

Overall, its a good printer and I kinda get a laugh out of all its preparation. Fortunately, I'm never in a rush to get my documents.

PS.If you want a good laugh, print in draft mode.My daughter loves to run around the room picking up the printed papers as they literally fly out of the printer.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - I love this printer!
The HP Photosmart D7460 printer is amazing! I bought this printer to replace an HP Photosmart 7450 which had been giving me some trouble (white lines through print, etc.) and I wish I had done it sooner. The D7460 takes up a bit more room on the desk, but it makes up for it in quality, ease of use and setup (could they make the cartridges easier to install? I don't think so. A child could do it -- color and shape coded!), as well as price. A great value. I have made about 100 prints of varying color so far and the ink level has barely gone down. The ink gauge seems to be quite accurate, too. I would recommend this printer to anyone serious about printing photos and artwork, as well as documents. Prints made on photo paper are 100% archival, and are dry pretty much instantly. The wireless capacity also works flawlessly, and was easy to set up. Love it!
