This a good product that I use almost daily for smoothies and grinding coffee beans.The comments about stuff put in first tends not to blend as well (e.g., protein powder) but I just put it in more toward the last and it does just fine.When I first started using it many months ago it smelled like it was going to burn out but it has been chugging along just fine.I am very happy with this product.
Rating:  - It Broke After 5 Months
I bought this blender in Jan 08 and it worked really well until June 08. When I was making my morning protein shake, sparks literally started shooting out of the bottom of the blender and they went all over the kitchen counter.
My only use for this blender was to make protein shakes of just milk, protein powder and cocoa. I never put in fruit or ice and I never let it run for more than 30 seconds at a clip. So to say I wore out the motor is bogus.
I'm returning it to Amazon and getting 70% off of the total price back b/c I ordered the item in January. I don't want anything in my house that is a clear fire hazard.
Bottom line, worked great for 5 months until it broke and this item is a fire hazard.

I use this on a daily basis.It doesn't like a heavy load of ice, but otherwise works great for me. I especially like the mugs - first one ever that I have found that doesn't leak - even when turned upside down.Love It - Bought another for my daughter!

The Back to Basics Blender Express Plus that I purchased gets used every day for my breakfast smoothie health drink and is the easiest blender to use and clean that I have ever purchased.I use frozen fruit, soy milk and a health/vitamin mix (sometimes yogurt too) In just a few short minutes my breakfast drink is ready...I then fill with water and a drop of dish soap...blend on pulse 5 seconds...rinse and I'm all finished...and ready for the next day.I have used it for homemade fresh salsa, dips and dressings and comes out perfect every time.I would recommend it to anyone.
Rating:  - Not as good as the Magic Bullet
I got this set because I had and liked the Magic Bullet and needed another set. This machine doesn't work as well because the blades are not as sharp and they are raised from the platform and when I used it there were chunks of food stuck underneath the blades.
