| | | Electronics Uniden TWX977 Waterproof Accessory Handset and Charger for the T9 Series (also compatible with the ELT and UIP series) | | | | | | | | | | | Rating: - Great, but hard to start. The phone works well; very well. It was difficult to register with my base but after several tries, it connected. There's not been a single problem since.
Rating: - Fun phone, if thats possible... Imagine sitting by the pool with friends and family, your 4 year enters the scene grabs the pretty yellow phone and pitches it into the pool. The looks on the faces of those @ you are those of shock and "you better get a grip on your kid". The reception is great the whole system has proved valuable as a phone system and house intercom.
Rating: - Excellent handset This is simply an excellent handset.
We use them in an anodizing plant where many, many regular wireless handsets have met their demise.
This unit will float on top of the tanks and still work.
Another great feature is that it has a decent audio level. You can actually hear people talking at the other end without going in the office. This is something that we've never experienced before.
A perfect handset for any hostile environment.
Rating: - Phone near water?Get this phone I have purchased two of these handsets and recommend them highly.
The first was purchased as a master bathroom handset to my existing uniden digital 5.8 MHz expandable system. Its been a great phone to use in the wet space...near the bath and near the steam shower. It's a worry free for when you're wet and still need to be accessible. We've also used the monitor feature on this handset as a baby monitor when in the outside hottub.
The second phone was purchased for my parents who have a uniden phone system at their vacation home. They've lost a standard extenion phone in the pool and we replaced it with the waterproof twx977. We should have had one there in the first place.
Works flawlessly - just like any Uniden 5.8Mhz digital handset.Well made and solid.Floats if dropped into water and supports both 1 line and 2 line systems.
Only one drawback is the lack of a headset jack -- But that's not a big deal for its intended outdoor or wet use.I don't know of any waterproof telephone headsets to match with it.
If you need a waterproof phone, get this one.
If you don't have a uniden system yet -- get one!
Rating: - Not perfect, but good First, the bad....
It's HUGE. Not a sleek or sexy phone by any stretch of the imagination. This thing is all function, no style.
Calls are quiet on both ends. So speak up and listen carefully!
Intercom feature requires too many buttons and takes too long too "think."
A little light flashes when you have voicemail. Can barely see it in a bright room. No other indication (like "Voicemail" written on the LCD screen).
No option to erase all your calls received in one fell swoop. Have to delete them one by one.
Cheesy very low resolution LCD display. Not too excited about the color orange as the chosen backlight.
Something about the key setup isn't quite right. The soft keys and the dedicated keys just don't flow...needs some rearranging. Phonebook is a dedicated key, liked it better as a soft key on my old phone. Redial is a soft key, liked it better as a dedicated key on my old phone. But that's just me being picky.
The directions in the manual for connecting the base unit with an accessory waterproof handset are incorrect. I don't remember how to do it exactly, but you have to look it up on Uniden's website.
You can't turn on the speaker phone until you're actually IN a call. It's not able to switch over before dialing or while ringing. So after you speak with the person you can switch to speakerphone. That's really lame.
THE GOOD.... The thing takes a beating, that's for sure. Like I said, function, not style. If you're looking for a sturdy phone, this is the one. I don't have a pool, but read a lot of reviews that it leaks in the water. I use it as an office phone at my home office. I move around a lot, inside and outside as I work. I'm very active and busy throughout the day. I drop it or it falls off my belt. I screwed up my old phone doing this, so this one is a god send in that respect.
Being so big, is actually fits quite comfortably on my shoulder so I can type with both hands while on the phone.
Sound quality is good, just quiet.
Like being able to creat a personalized banner on each phone, so I can label them. I have two, the base unit and an accessory handset.
Nice loud ringer, which is what I need. It has a lot of nice musical options for ringers, like a cell phone. One of my clients thought it was an icecream truck outside the first time she heard it.
I LOVE the one-touch dialing for voicemail. After setting it up, you hit one button and your voicemail is dialed and the password entered. Nice!
