| | | Electronics Uniden TRU9485-3 5.8 GHz Digital Cordless Answering System with Dual Keypad and 2 Extra Handsets | | | | | | | | | | | Rating: - A solid, functional product A good, functional product. PROS: - Intuitive - Comes w/three handsets - Nice belt-clip which does not fall off. Didn't like odd shape at first but makes it easier to cradle handset when talking. - Different rings for each handset and different callers - Can get voicemail from any handset or base station - Good speakerphone quality from handsets & base station (and no complaints yet from people we have been talking w/) - Can label each phone in display (to know which of the three you are talking on -- helps keep track) - Weighty enough to give a quality feel but not too heavy. CONS: - "direct link mode" function btwn handsets is bizarre & most of the time the "out of range" error appears. - "Room Monitor" is a great idea but (while i don't have a baby) i don't think it would be that useful as a baby monitor. - No blue tooth or wifi capability - "Phone book" is archaic and unwieldy. Why can I synch up my tiny cell phone with my computer, Outlook, or Gmail address books but not my house phone?? No predictive text / entering in phone numbers manually is monotonous and difficult (though admittedly easier than previous cordlesses i have owned).
Rating: - mixed reviews speaker phone reception is great. bad reception when far from base.our old phone had better reception at our workshop.with this phone, there is a lot of static. you have to go through several steps in order to insert a "1" in front of the caller ID number in order to return the call or store in memory. my old phone gave that option readily. i still am not able to make a 3way call.i used to be able to do by just pressing flash.doesn't seem to work with this one. i like that the numbers light up when you dial -- quite important at our age :) i like that when you press a speed dial number, it shows you the number (which means you really do not have to memorize the speed dial number you assigned to a number). will i choose this phone over our old phone?well... i wish all their good features were in one phone! it's like the search for the perfect purse! :D
Rating: - longevity rules! I have owned this phone w the two extra handsets for two years and am very happy with them. They have a lot of nice features not included on many newer phones. In reading these various reviews there seems to be a predominance of users who have not read their manual. It helps.
Rating: - Good and Bad Pro: This phone has more features than I have ever see in a cordless phone. The features are excellent and other companies should take notice and follow suit.
Con: The battery life on each charge SUCKS. For a phone just coming off the charging stand, you would expect it to last more than a week with 3 or 4 calls. This phone won't make it. So ... if you put it down and misplace it, don't count on ringing it to find it.
Rating: - Horrible unit I paid $130.00 for this unit and 30.00 for an extra handset. I have used them since November and all I can say is they have the worst range I have ever seen on a cordless phone.Even worst than the original cordless units that came out years ago.I consistently get readings saying I am out of range even when I am standing next to another charging unit and phone. The static is unbearable to the point it sounds like I am on a cell phone and I have to apologize to the people I am speaking to because they only hear every other word. The unit's features are minimal and the ringer choices are annoying.I paid to much for the unit and only purchase it because of the reviews. So either mine is a dud or someone has been feeding their reviews for the product.
